It actually gives her pause. It's hard for Haru to imagine losing her entire world. ]

Allura told me a little bit about you all. Defenders of the universe. Fighting an evil empire.

it's not an easy knowing what happened.

it's difficult. there's a lot at stake and before i arrived? we were on our way back to earth.

Protecting a whole universe sounds like an incredibly big responsibility.
How long had you been away from Earth?

[legionnaires]

it is. i wasn't sure how to handle it at first. especially being a leader.

that's complicated. about a year for everyone else. i've been gone three due to...space time mechanics.

It must be fairly scary to have to lead a team into battle, but I am sure you're a fine leader.

"Space time mechanics"?

[legionnaires]

the very basics of it are that my mother and i went through a space-time field called the quantum abyss. dark stars are orbited by dense neutron stars which causes pretty much everything in the area to be pulled in different directions.

it also causes intense solar flares that can trigger glimpses of the past and future. we went through the space field on a giant...whale like creature that could figure out how to navigate through it.

i don't know what better way to explain it.

[ ... none of that makes complete sense to her. ]

There are whales in space?

[legionnaires]

well they looked like whales. i don't really know what they were but they were... nice at least? they had their own atmosphere and ecosystem on their backs.

[girlybruiser]

[ Her next response is delayed by a couple of minutes as she tries to parse the explanation above. ]

So... it sounds as if you went through a black hole of sorts? But this black hole did something with time?

yeah that sounds about right.

[girlybruiser]

How did you and your mother escape?

[legionnaires]

we ended up on a planet once we made it through the abyss. we found a ship there and navigated it back to the castle and the rest of voltron.

[girlybruiser]

That's good. Were you both alright?
Aside from time having passed.

[legionnaires]

yeah. we survived. i got to know her. it's more then i could ask for.

[girlybruiser]

Were you both not close before?

[legionnaires]

i didn't know her until... well that mission actually.

[girlybruiser]

[ Another delayed response. She doesn't know what to say yet. ]

I'm sorry to hear.

no, it's okay. i understand why i didn't know her until now.

[girlybruiser]

Was she away a lot then?
I hope I'm not prying too much.

[legionnaires]

it's okay. more like she left when i was a baby. my father raised me.

[girlybruiser]

[ It's difficult for her to imagine a mother of all parental figures abandoning her child. Maybe it's because she's always envisioned mothers to be much more nurturing and warm, even being aware that's not always the case. ]

It must have been hard for you all.

[legionnaires]

it was. but i don't blame her. she needed to be back off world to stop the galra from the finding the blue lion.

[girlybruiser]

Is she a paladin, too?

[legionnaires]

no. she part of a galra resistance group called the blades of marmora. but we work closely with them. i was an active member until recently.

i hope most things make sense. it's getting easier to talk about.
